It's been a while
Wow it's been over a year since I posted on my blog. I've been pretty busy :-) my website has up to date information.

In the studio
Some paintings I'm working on right now. Maps are making a comeback! Not that they ever really left. All of these paintings are on board. From where I stand, 50 x 80cmI'll bring all your dreams alive, 15 x 20cmAnd if all your hopes survive, 15 x 20cmDon't let your aim ever stray, 15 x 20cm

MPRG National works on paper exhibition
Dislocation, Acrylic on paper, approx. 200cm x 750cm, 2016I am really excited to have my work selected for the MPRG National Works on Paper exhibition. This is a pretty big deal for me and I can't wait to see the exhibition on July 16! I am checking the work to make sure it's in good condition as I have shown it twice so far.I have so many ideas for new work like Dislocation. I will probably be making them over the next couple of months. Meanwhile I am painting small paintings on canvas in my favourite place – my studio in Melbourne :-)I also have two shows on at the moment. One at ARCADE and the other at Alternating Current Artspace. TOO BUSY :-)

Progress of the commission
Did another 10 hours today and made real progress. I am hoping to finish these during the week and put on the maps on Friday. Then on Sunday I'll be able to put the isolation coat and varnish.I should get the stretchers for the remaining two more canvases before Friday I hope :-)

Commission progress
I worked for 10 hours in the studio today. I went out to get more paint and get something to eat for lunch and that was it. The black and red need further work but apart from that I'm really happy with the progress so far.I don't normally work this fast but with this commission I have no choice. Maybe a deadline is good sometimes :-)

So... I got quite a lot done today.I traced all of the outlines of the patterns and started on the painting. Very happy with my progress so far.Red is going to be the focus of this painting. It's going to be really dramatic! Can't wait to see how I go over the next few days :-)

Starting a commission
I am going to record the progress of a new commission I began yesterday. It's a pretty tight deadline so I'll be working really hard for the next few weeks. Last night I stretched 2 out of 4 of the canvases and gave them a coat of gesso. Today I'll be putting another layer of gesso and sketching the outlines of the image I want to paint.

Some photos from my

Dislocation exhibition
Come and join me for a beverage to celebrate an exhibition of my new work at the MotorWorks! See it in the flesh. It looks so much better than on The Book and Instagram Like many landscape painters who attempt to capture, interpret and communicate the Genius Loci of place, I have always been fascinated by elements in the landscape that we detect subconsciously or sense intuitively and that we might ignore as irrational. Exhibition continues until the 26th of February, open Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm. How to get to the MotorWorks It's close to Melbourne Grammar School. You can catch a tram from Federation Square to the Domain Interchange or down St Kilda road. Trams 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 16, 64, 55, 67, 72 or there is heaps of parking around the gallery The MotorWorks, 39 Arnold Street, South Yarra, Melbourne
