Panelists at the Sustainable Mobility summit organised by Bangalore International Centre on Wednesday, stressed on the need to develop infrastructure that can push people to make sustainable mobility choices like walking, cycling or using an electric vehicle.
Healthy waterways as part of a larger multimodal connectivity setup can be ensured with healthy practices of water resource management, which is also a prerequisite for growth of the farm sector. Union minister Nitin Gadkari kickstarts 11 highway projects worth Rs 20,000 cr in Haryana
The minister further said that in the ongoing term of the BJP government, highway projects worth Rs 2 lakh crore will be developed in the State. The Road Transport, Highways and MSME minister said a policy will be out soon banning Chinese firms and relaxing norms for Indian companies to expand their eligibility criteria for participation in highway projects. Currently only a few projects which were undertaken much earlier involve some Chinese partners.
Government approves additional Rs 1,691 crore for highway works in J&K, Uttarakhand for 2020-21
